One of my favorite parts about our district is our parks, waterways, and the natural beauty of Detroit. If elected, I will work to preserve our local watersheds and waterways, collaborate with our neighborhood directors and residents to ensure no projects are forced upon their homes without their direct input, and make sure AI is heavily regulated so we have a say in where those facilities are placed. Citizens need a real voice in clean energy projects on their land and they deserve to be included in these community decisions.
PROTECT AND NURTURE OUR ENVIRONMENT
Put a one‑year moratorium on data centers in Southeast Michigan — regulate their power use, make companies pay for infrastructure upgrades, and require direct consent from the people before any data center moves forward.
Fight for clean air and water by investing in the sewer system to stop overflows and supporting the Affordable Water Now package, and cut red tape so environmental policy moves with transparency. We must make sure that our state’s budget appropriates sufficient funding for water aid.
Ensure that the intention of the Michigan Clean Energy and Jobs Act matches the outcome as we begin its implementation. Transitioning to clean energy will improve the health of our children AND create hundreds of jobs in Detroit.
